Plimoth, my guid man

Sorry about the delay in blog posts folks, its been a very, very busy past few days - up incredibly early, and not back until pretty late...

On Wednesday we were picked up by two very nice gentlemen, Mark and Jack (Gunter), from Baintree Rotary Club and we headed down to Plimoth Plantation, a site 3 miles from the original pilgrims landing, but re-enacting the pilgrims village and the Wampanoag natives summer encampment.  Whilst the native Indians would speak in modern day English and were extremely informative about their way of life 400 years ago, the pilgrims were all actors who would speak like they would back in 1627!

Welcome to the town! How do you fare? Are you just passing through, or mayhaps you are desiring to settle in this wilderness?”

After a number of very interesting, and slightly surreal conversations with 'pilgrims', (and educational - they said K'nife, for instance) we went off to see the Mayflower II, a recreation of the original Mayflower that sailed over with 102 pilgrims on board.  Lets just say that it isnt that big, they werent allowed on the deck, there were 30 sailors helping sail, as well as livestock in the hold... and they were in it for THREE months; they must have stank!!!!

We were then treated to lunch at a lovely seafood restaurant overlooking the beach and harbour, and then we headed to F1 Boston where we all raced against each other in little racing cars!  Brilliant fun but poor Wendy, the winner, had to slow down as everyone else was so slow... well that's what she said anyway!!  Someone kept on cutting corners and got the fastest lap, others played bumper cars with each other instead, and one person was extremely controlled in their vehicle, but we figure she had a head start given that she has already had police driver training (although she didnt catch the speeder in front!), and the person at the rear made their way in a stately manner around the course! We will leave you to guess who was who!!  But we could definitely draw comparisons with the Wacky Races!  We promise to put up photos of us in our extremely professional driving gear!
